The water which is normally closed due to air traffic was opened up to the series as part of the London City Airport's fun day. The F4SA were given the exclusive opportunity of being the only water based display at the event which is in its 12th year and coincided with the 21st birthday of the airport.
The series allowed three of its 150hp powerboats time out from their UK tour to put on the spectacular show for the crowds. Locamotion, Claygate & Spirit of Octane from the 150hp fleet were let lose onto the otherwise private waters to show London that handling a Honda Formula 4-Stoke powerboat isn't for the faint-hearted.
“It was an interesting day and the chance to use the docklands was spectacular, something that you are not normally allowed to do. It was great to be part of the fun day and support the airport and we are now looking forward to putting a good performance in at our next race in Lowestoft and getting ourselves back on the podium. The Docklands provided us with a great testing ground in preparation for this”, said Lee Smith, driver of the Spirit of Octane boat.
